Peter Brogan discusses the importance of research and insight at the IWFM.

We’ve changed a lot of things at IAs the challenges facing workplace and facilities professionals grow more complex, our ability to turn problems into solutions and opportunity into innovation depends on our ability to understand and articulate what these possibilities mean for our profession and unlock its capacity to adapt and thrive.

This makes research and insight more fundamental to IWFM than ever before. We need insight even more than foresight or hindsight.

As part of our 10-point plan for becoming a modern professional body we will kick-start the year with a Career of Choice campaign.

“This makes research and insight more fundamental to IWFM”

Building on our existing partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions, the initiative will generate programmes and materials to engage those looking to join the profession or progress within it.

We will also launch the free-to-access market information index, with sector employment figures, market performance, trends and support material as well as news on contract wins. Whether you are part of the supply chain, a player in the support services arena or someone looking to procure services, you will have access to data to help make informed choices about the market.

Following on from our work with 3edges on the impact of technology on FM, we’ll explore IT’s opportunities and challenges, presenting case studies and interviews with thought leaders.

Furthermore, a two-year partnership with b2b partnerships Ltd will see us develop focused streams of work on key areas impacting the profession. The arrangement will help us develop our strategic partnership programme, creating opportunities for collaboration across the new workstreams as well as other content and insights outputs.

We’ll continue to advance our community programme to deliver more practical guidance with our popular Good Practice Guides, guidance notes, events, web content and webinars.
