Barratt to build £128m homes at Arsenal

21 June 2011

Barratt Homes has clinched a deal worth a potential £128m to build a residential project next to Arsenal FC’s Emirates stadium.

Construction on the three residential towers, which will comprise 375 homes and include penthouses priced upwards of £500,000, is scheduled to start in January next year.

Barratt will work with joint venture partner L&Q, the London Housing Association. It is expected that L&Q will take an equal share of the profits.

The homes are likely to be popular with Arsenal fans, much as properties at Chelsea Village are sought after by Chelsea supporters.

Arsenal FC director Ken Friar said in a statement: “This is the last piece of the jigsaw in our new stadium project which has delivered huge regeneration to the Borough of Islington.”

He added that 2,500 new homes and 2,500 new jobs had been created around the £390m Emirates stadium project, adding: “I am proud that we stayed in Islington and proud that Arsenal has helped contribute to the local community in this way.”
