Mapeley launches stand-alone FM business

2 May 2012

Property management firm Mapeley has set up a stand-alone facilities business to take on its HM Revenue and Customs contract.

“Salisbury FM represents a multi million pound investment for Mapeley, providing a one-stop solution that directly controls FM service delivery,” said a Mapeley statement.

The nationwide HMRC contract is for security, cleaning and hard and soft FM.

“Overall, Mapeley believes Salisbury FM’s unique offering and relationship with Mapeley will allow it to secure a number of opportunities beyond HMRC,” said the statement.

Mapeley, based in Guernsey, was established in 1999 specifically to bid for the contract to provide outsourced management to the HMRC. Mapeley won the contract and went on win deals with Abbey, now part of Santander, and for the Identity and Passport Service.

In April 2001, Mapeley bought the portfolios of the department of Inland Revenue, HM Customs & Excise and Valuation Office Agency  - since merged into HM Revenue & Customs. Mapeley took over 147 freehold properties and 454 leasehold properties.

The agreement with HMRC includes 20-year sale and leaseback and the provision of comprehensive property and FM services, including fit-out projects for most of the estate.
