Our selection of the other workplace and facilities management announcements made this week.


EQUIPMENT AND RE-FIT: C&C Catering Equipment provided and helped to build catering facilities at the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club. The world-renowned venue required catering facilities across two areas of The Members’ Brasserie. C&C Catering Equipment was also responsible for ripping out the old kitchen and storing the equipment that was to be reused and re-installed. facilities had to be completed and operational for Wimbledon Championships week.


AWARD: Axis Security’s security team at The Mercury shopping centre in Romford was named ‘Security team of the Year’ at the Sceptre Awards 2019. The national awards promote excellence by recognising best practice and the best people operating within the shopping centre industry. The Axis team is credited by centre manager Spencer Hawken with maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for its elderly demographic as well as teens that visit at the weekend.


SKILLS: Corporate office FM specialist Anabas has launched an apprenticeship programme in partnership with Grey Seal Academy. The Grey Seal Academy apprenticeship scheme will be delivered to a group of current Anabas employees to provide them with essential on-the-job training and work experience in the corporate office environment. The full-time apprentices will finish the programme with a Level 3 apprenticeship in Facilities Management – giving participants the qualifications and practical experience needed to succeed in FM.


TRAINING: Sodexo’s corporate services business has joined forces with HIT Training to launch a development programme to support and develop the next generation of FM leaders. It will offer a structured apprenticeship journey for qualifying existing employees and new recruits to complete either a customer service practitioner or customer service specialist apprenticeship. Both apprenticeships are 18-month courses and include an IWFM-accredited facilities services qualification, level 2 certificate for practitioner apprentices and level 3 certification for the customer service specialist cohort.


APPOINTMENT: SSP Group, which operates food and beverage concessions in travel locations worldwide, has appointed Richard Lewis as CEO of SSP UK and Ireland, effective from 1 September. Lewis joins SSP from Greene King, where he was chief operating officer, “helping to drive sales, market share and productivity gains and improve customer service”. He will sit on the company’s group executive team and report to CEO Simon Smith.


APPOINTMENT: Lorna Walker, director of development capital markets at CBRE, was appointed to the UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) board of trustees at the charity’s AGM. Walker established CBRE’s UK Innovation and PropTech Group and leads its strategic relationship with the PI Labs accelerator programme. Walker’s extensive experience in technology and innovation will provide UKGBC with insight and counsel as it increases its focus on capturing and promoting practical answers to industry issues.
