Compass Group UK & Ireland has appointed Carolyn Ball to its newly created role of director for delivery of net zero.
The news follows the company’s announcement that it intends to reach Climate Net Zero by 2030. In pursuit of this aim, the company has developed a ‘charter and roadmap’ to create a sustainable food system that delivers Net Zero.
Previously head of business development for the RA Group, Ball will be responsible for what Compass describes as ‘change at scale’ to its operations as ‘sustainability becomes a core business objective across all services’.
Compass Group UK & Ireland announced the launch of a seed investment fund of £1 million to support the development of carbon reduction and sustainable food production innovation.
Using 2019 as a baseline, Compass Group is seeking to achieve a reduction in carbon emissions of at least 55 per cent by 2025 and at least 65 per cent across its operations and value chain by 2030.
