Eurest is to deliver catering services for close to two-thirds of the Royal Mail’s estate in a new contractual arrangement set to last until 2025.
The contract is the latest agreement between the two companies in a relationship that has lasted 22 years. Royal Mail cites Eurest’s “ability to develop flexible solutions to the challenges brought on by the pandemic” as one of the reasons for continuing the partnership for a further four years.
Eurest, a division of Compass Group UK, is to provide a new menu focused on wellbeing and sustainability. This will use 80 per cent British produce, see a 25 per cent reduction in calories per 100g of food and a concentration on using plant proteins wherever possible. Cashless payment and app-based pre-ordering is also part of the offer.
Morag Freathy, managing director, B&I at Compass Group UK & Ireland said: “Over the past year we’ve seen huge innovation and have developed new concepts to bring to the table. COVID-19 has forced us to rethink our workplace dining offer.”
