Robertson has named Joe Guilfoyle as its group director of safety, health and environment (SHE).
Currently responsible for health and safety within Robertson’s Construction Group, Guilfoyle will step up to carry out these duties at both Robertson Group and Robertson Residential Group businesses spanning Scotland and northern England – including construction, housebuilding, infrastructure, engineering and support services.
He has spent more than 25 years in the industry with several large contractors across the UK moving from trade, to construction management to senior health and safety roles.
Since joining Robertson in January last year, Guilfoyle has helped to develop and deliver the business’s internal behavioural safety programme.
He replaces Ken Millar, who has spent five years with the business during which he was instrumental in developing the group’s health and safety culture.
Elliot Robertson, chief executive officer at Robertson, said: “This is the natural progression for Joe as he’s proven himself to be a hugely valuable member of the senior SHE team, and, alongside Ken, has progressed Robertson’s industry-leading health and safety procedures and Home Safe engagement with staff and key stakeholders.
“The critical role of health and safety is in the spotlight, more now than ever, as we navigate new ways of working that ensure the continued health, safety and wellbeing of our employees when they return to work across our businesses.
“We have no doubt that Joe has the skills and experience necessary to successfully lead the SHE team, with the important responsibility of actioning our new Covid-19 safe operating procedures and group health and safety strategy.”
Guilfoyle said: “Health and safety has always been the number one priority for Robertson and that focus remains steadfast as our sites and offices adapt to new ways of working.”
