Mitie has launched a cleaning service with the UK’s first cleaning product proven to rid surfaces of Covid-19 for six months.
As part of a new specialist service, Mitie cleans, seals and protects all touchpoint surfaces with Citrox Protect, which offers continuing protection against the spread of the coronavirus.
The company says Citrox Protect is chemical-free and non-toxic as it is produced using silicon dioxide and Citrox – an antiviral substance extracted from citrus fruits.
The product is applied by trained biotechnicians as part of a specialist sanitisation clean and is dry to the touch within minutes and fully sealed in 24 hours. It works in two phases. The silicon dioxide forms a natural barrier that coats surfaces to prevent viruses or bacteria from being able to bind to them. Meanwhile, the Citrox kills any viruses or bacteria that land on the surface for six months, which Mitie claims is the longest protection on the market.
It is safe or use on food preparation surfaces and is Microsoft-approved for use on technology – from desks, phones and laptops in offices, through to kitchens or retail displays, said Mitie.
James Gilding, managing director of cleaning at Mitie, said: “The coronavirus pandemic has really brought home the vital role that a clean environment plays in protecting our health. As UK businesses plan for a lift in lockdown restrictions, keeping touchpoints clean – be that desks, door handles or shopping trolleys – is critical to ensuring that we limit the spread of coronavirus.”
