Mitie
Mitie is providing key services at seven coronavirus regional testing centres in addition to the five it already operates in across England and Wales.
The latest centres have been set up at Ashford, Deeside, Ebbw Vale, Gloucester, Newbury, Ramsgate, and Salisbury as part of the government’s nationwide drive to increase testing.
The FM operator, which has mobilised at the Manston Airport centre opening in Ramsgate today (7 July) and has been enabling the centres across May and June, will have about 900 staff working across the seven sites. With testing at the heart of the NHS test and trace service, Mitie will play a central role in supporting the UK’s coronavirus recovery strategy.
Services supplied by Mitie include clinical waste management, security services, such as traffic management and lane support, cleaning and catering for all employees based at the centres, as it has been already been doing at Bournemouth, Inverness, Llandudno, Penrith and Perth.
In addition to the testing centres, Mitie is providing a wide range of support to help the UK overcome the pandemic, supporting the NHS by delivering essential services at Nightingale hospitals in the UK.
Simon Venn, Mitie’s chief government and strategy officer, said: “The rapid turnaround to get these centres up and running demonstrates the amazing things that can be achieved when public and private sector work together in a truly collaborative manner.”
