NHS Property Services (NHSPS) has added a further 40 sites across the National Health Service property portfolio to businesses seeking flexible work space.
The NHS Open Space scheme makes clinical and meeting space within the NHS available on a pay-as-you-go basis through an online booking system for both large and independent businesses. Funds raised are to be reinvested back into the NHS.
The scheme is adding a further 40 to 60 sites by March 2021, with the aim of having 250 available sites in the next two years. Available space includes rooms for meetings, group activities or examinations, as well as office spaces and minor operation suites.
Almost half (48 per cent) of registrations for the space since the scheme’s launch have been from private sector businesses.
John Westwood, director of asset management at NHSPS, said: “We know many healthcare providers and businesses will be looking for alternative property options in the wake of the pandemic. Flexible room booking means we can address this need and make better use of NHS space, with additional services being offered to communities that need them most.
“Our customers can count on us to ensure that all available sites are cleaned and maintained to the highest of safety standards as NHS Property Services provide facilities management.”
