Livery company the Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers has chosen the winner of its annual bursary for young professionals in the FM sector.
The Pattenmakers Young Facilities Manager Award 2021 winner is Laura Newnham, who is contract support manager at Salisbury Group.
Newnham will receive “expert support to create a varied and bespoke personal development programme agreed with her employer, including online and off-site courses and customised work placements designed to broaden her experience of different aspects of workplace and facilities management”.
The award is supported by a small financial bursary donated by learning provider International Workplace.
In addition, Newnham will be presented with the Freedom of the Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers at the Company’s Annual FM/Built Enivronment Dinner, taking place in London on 28 October 2021.
The number and quality of entrants for this year’s award was described by the interview panel as "the best ever", with young FM professionals representing both client and supply sides of the industry.
Two common themes emerged from interviews with finalists. First, the need to make FM a career of choice. Second, the need to make FM more inclusive.
The Pattenmakers body seeks to engage all of the entrants to this year’s award to address these issues through involvement with the Young Pattenmakers, run by Sophia Lee, executive director at data management company, Datore.
