GRITIT, the winter gritting and snow clearance provider, has completed the purchase of Doncaster-based surfacing, engineering and external environment maintenance firm NMC Group.
Total Capital Partners said the “transformational acquisition” of NMC doubles the size of its portfolio company GRITIT Group – creating “a £50 million market-leading provider of external infrastructure compliance services”.
It was the third acquisition by GRITIT since private equity firm Total Capital Partners became an investor in November 2018.
Leatherhead-based GRITIT delivers nationwide winter gritting, snow clearance, grounds maintenance and civil engineering solutions to commercial properties at about 7,500 sites from locations across the UK. Its client base includes some of the UK’s leading property, facilities management, retail and infrastructure companies.
NMC Group’s service lines include car park surfacing, drainage, civil engineering, surveying, line marking and specialist coatings. Its customers are in sectors including retail, industrial, commercial, healthcare and education. Like GRITIT, NMC provides nationwide service coverage, operating from regional depots in Doncaster, Stevenage and Edinburgh.
Jason Petsch, GRITIT’s CEO, described the incorporation of NMC as “a significant milestone in our clearly focused strategy, which is to create a group offering clients end-to-end, integrated and technology-enabled solutions to their external infrastructure compliance and maintenance needs”.
Mark Buttler, of Total Capital Partners, said: “The acquisition of NMC is a game changer for GRITIT, both in terms of scale and service offering. GRITIT and NMC have each demonstrated impressive growth in recent years. Putting the two together is transformational and creates a genuinely new market-leader.”
Mark Buttler and Paul Brown from Total Capital Partners led the deal process on behalf of GRITIT. Investec Bank provided debt funding to support the transaction.
