Grounds maintenance and landscaping provider Ground Control has been awarded a utility arboriculture contract by Western Power Distribution (WPD) in South Wales.
The deal, worth £4 million a year, expands Ground Control‘s partnership with WPD and makes it one of the UK’s largest utility arboriculture providers.
The contract starts on 1 March and includes both maintenance and resilience work, ensuring that the power supply is not interrupted to a significant part of South Wales.
Steve Amison, Ground Control‘s utility arb contracts director, said: “This is a great opportunity for us to utilise the bespoke systems we have put to good use for WPD in the Midlands in a new area.
“It is also a fantastic opportunity for us to bring new people into utility arb. It offers great career opportunities for those who enjoy working outdoors and want to support our critical infrastructure, and we are putting a training programme in place for people who want to join our industry.”
