Kath Fontana

Kath Fontana, president at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and a managing director at Mitie, has joined the UK BIM Alliance as a non-executive director.

An influential industry leader, Fontana is managing director of Mitie’s projects division and has held a range of senior roles in property, FM and construction across a range of sectors. She is active in driving engagement and inspiring change in the built environment and is a keen promoter of technology, social impact and diversity as drivers of long-term value.

She is the current president of the RICS for 2020-2021.

Fontana said: “Building information modelling has been a passion of mine for many years and I am excited about the opportunity to support the UK BIM Alliance in its mission to support the roll-out of BIM to industry.”

Dr Anne Kemp, chair of the UK BIM Alliance, added: “Kath is naturally collaborative and results-driven and thrives on a challenge. A highly analytical and commercially astute person, Kath has all the skills required of a non-executive director. We look forward to Kath sharing her knowledge and passion in challenging our thinking and supporting our goals.”

The UK BIM Alliance supports the built environment sector in moving towards digital transformation. It aims to ensure that BIM becomes ‘business as usual’ while transforming and future-proofing the way the industry works.
