Amey Consulting has extended a property and estate management services contract with rail company Southeastern covering 164 stations across Central and South East London, Kent and East Sussex.
The work will be delivered by AmeyTPT, Amey Consulting’s commercial estate team, which specialises in maximising secondary revenues for busy public services such as train, bus and service stations.
The infrastructure services and engineering consultant was first appointed to the contract in 2010. It has since introduced technology that has enhanced customer experience for station users and boosted small businesses along the route.
Working with Southeastern, Amey Consulting has redeveloped Herne Hill station in South London. Reflecting local community needs and aiming to diversify the retail mix, local independent traders were added to the station.
The introduction of flexible rental arrangements by Amey Consulting has also supported the station owner and tenants to deal with the effects of Covid-19 on passenger numbers. And investment in technology has driven improvements in client financial reporting and tenant management.
Alex Gilbert, Amey Consulting’s managing director, said: “Railway stations are not just strategic transport assets. They also play an important role within each community, offering employment opportunities for small businesses and a diverse range of services for the local population. Our team of asset managers will lead sustainable growth across Southeastern’s estate, providing fantastic opportunities to local traders, great customer experience for station users and consistent revenues needed to maintain our country’s stations now and post-pandemic.”
