Mitie has won a seven-year contract to provide FM services for 70 Scottish government’s sites.
The services include engineering and maintenance, waste management, grounds maintenance, security, energy management and cleaning at sites across the country, including offices and research centres, Marine Scotland’s buildings and the First Minister’s residence.
The contract sees the extension of Mitie’s 13-year partnership with the Scottish Government.
Mitie said sustainability would be central to the contract and that it would work closely with the Scottish Government to design and implement a strategy to help cut carbon emissions across its estate.
Mitie will audit the 70 sites to collect data on water and energy consumption, which the government will use to set sustainability targets and help reach its net zero objective.
Mitie said the contract would also improve the ecology surrounding Scottish Government’s buildings through initiatives such as planting wildflowers and installing ‘bug hotels’ to encourage pollinators. The company will also provide advice on waste reduction at sites.
