Biffa has agreed to acquire the collections business and certain recycling assets of Viridor Waste Management for £126 million.
Under the deal, Biffa will acquire Viridor’s network of 15 industrial and commercial depots for business waste.
The company said the deal would significantly expand its own low carbon collections business, and bring an extra 21,000 customers into its nationwide portfolio. It would also put the group in a better position to meet upcoming regulatory changes to collections services including compulsory recycling and food waste.
The transaction will also enable Biffa to extend its Specialist Services and Resources & Energy operations capabilities, as well as reinforce the group’s position in closed-loop recycling, added the company.
