Gareth Sharpe – Compass Group UK & Ireland
Compass Group UK & Ireland has appointed Gareth Sharpe as chief finance officer to join its executive team.
He replaces Sarah Sergeant, who leaves after 13 years with the group.
Sharpe, who began his career with PwC, was previously at Tesco, where he was CFO for Asia. His nine-year career with Tesco also included time in the UK retail business. Before becoming CFO, he held a number of finance director roles in financial planning and analysis, financial control and in commercial finance, working closely with the merchandising and supply chain teams.
He said: “Having worked in the food industry for many years, I am passionate about food and understand the complexities of the sector. I am really pleased to have the opportunity to support Compass with its plans for growth as we emerge from the pandemic.”
Robin Mills, managing director at Compass Group UK & Ireland, added: “Gareth… has an excellent understanding of the food industry and supply chain, so will be able to hit the ground running. He brings a strong track record of delivering results as well as a customer-orientated approach. I have no doubt he will be a great asset to our business as we work to rebuild following the impact of the Covid-pandemic. I am looking forward to working with him.
“I wish Sarah the best of luck with her next role. She has been instrumental in guiding the business through the challenges of the past year. Sarah is an incredibly talented individual who will be sorely missed.”
