Scottish building services contractor McGill has bought Fife-based gas and central heating specialist Kingdom Gas Services.
This acquisition follows the purchase of FM provider The McDougall Group last month and is intended to boost McGill’s scope and scale of delivery across the East Coast of Scotland, as the firm prepares to launch a gas division. The acquisition was executed by McGill’s parent company United Capital.
Kingdom Gas Services, which is managed by company founder Billy McCord, has grown over the past 23 years from a start-up based in Cupar, into a multimillion-pound turnover firm, with operations covering Aberdeenshire, Angus, Dundee, and Fife. It specialises in domestic and commercial oil and gas boiler maintenance, repair, and installation services to housing associations and councils.
McCord will join McGill as gas services director to lead the new gas division, to consolidate the delivery of all McGill group gas and heating contracts.
Errol Lawrie, McGill managing director, said: “To be announcing our second company acquisition, not even a month after purchasing The McDougall Group, is exciting, and a sign of what’s to come at McGill. Billy has built a solid and reputable company and his expertise will be put to good use as he drives forward the expansion of our newly created gas division.”
McCord added: “Having grown my business over the past 23 years, I wanted comfort that the future of the business, and of my employees was secure. Joining McGill is both a challenge and a huge opportunity for my people and Kingdom Gas.”
