Essex-based Amberstone Security has been awarded a contract with national retailer Tesco.
It will provide security for more than 330 Tesco stores across Northern Ireland, Scotland and Northern England.
The company was chosen as the security partner after a 10-month tender competitive process. It will install more than 700 security officers to carry out manned guarding, which includes static and roaming security officers at Tesco stores.
Jim McFedries, group operations director, who has been initiating the contract since it was awarded in mid-August, said: “Our immediate priority was to implement a comprehensive risk analysis for each store in order to keep safe our Tesco colleagues, the premises, assets, and the people who shop there. It’s a huge contract, and we are thrilled to welcome our new employees.”
The company pointed out that a recent study indicates that the global manned guarding market is expected to grow and be worth over £163 billion by 2024.
It said: “This encouraging news coupled with our Tesco contract has the potential to offer vast employment opportunities to security personnel with an SIA Licence in the future.”
