VINCI Facilities has embarked on a contract to supply FM services to the Ministry of Defence Built Estate across London and the South East of England.

The contract, awarded to VINCI Facilities in June 2021, was procured by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), the arm of the MoD responsible for the military’s UK built and rural estate.

The South East FDIS contract runs for an initial seven years and contains three additional performance-related option years. It is worth up to £1.1 billion over the initial term, comprising £423 million for the core FM contract and a potential £732 million from additional works.

The company has been engaged to enhance the customer experience in all aspects of its engagement with DIO, raising expectations of what FM can achieve through preventative maintenance, modernisation of the defence estate’s buildings, facilities, and infrastructure.

VINCI Facilities will achieve this by applying its expertise in asset and digital management and targeting of maintenance and capital expenditure funding.

VINCI‘s team expects to maintain employment in the South East for at least 800 people, employed either directly or through its supply chain partners. A new dedicated contract centre, including the help desk, is based at Camberley in Surrey.

This is the last of four regional hard FM contracts to go live, through which VINCI Facilities will maintain more than 6,200 buildings and infrastructure assets at 59 military sites in London and the South East.

Tony Raikes, managing director of VINCI Facilities, said: “VINCI Facilities will play a significant role in transforming the MoD’s approach to maintaining the defence estate in London and the South East.  In collaboration with DIO, this is an opportunity for us to replicate a capability we have demonstrated with many public and private sector customers across the UK.  We will use our expertise and knowledge… to help improve the MoD’s  buildings and infrastructure for the benefit of those who work with, or serve in our armed forces."

He added: “During the mobilisation phase of the contract our team has worked closely with our colleagues at DIO, and I am hugely confident our close  collaboration and partnership will continue to grow during the lifetime of the  contract.”

David Brewer, DIO’s chief operating officer, said: “DIO is committed to delivering the best service it can to our armed forces customers, and the new FDIS contract … offers the opportunity to truly transform and improve the hard facilities maintenance of 59 sites in this region. This is an incredibly important milestone for the FDIS programme marking the final FDIS Built Estate contract coming into force.

“We look forward to working with VINCI Facilities to ensure that we deliver services in the South East region that fully meet the requirements of our service personnel.”
