Gov Facility Services Ltd has appointed Matthew Garner as GFSL’s Interim chief executive officer to oversee the Southern FM Prisons portfolio for the Ministry of Justice and HM Prison and Probation Service.
Garner, a chartered building surveyor by training, joins GFSL from Sodexo, where he was a divisional managing director responsible for the development and delivery of facilities and catering services in the education sector across the UK and Ireland. This was one of several leadership roles he held at Sodexo, after having worked at Telereal Trillium.
He is entrusted with supporting client the MoJ and customer HMPPS to maintain a “safe and decent” environment within the Southern FM Prisons Estate. He will also further develop GFSL to become a sustainable, cost-effective provider for the delivery of future critical FM and associated project services on behalf of the MoJ. This involves reinforcing a customer-focused culture supporting “values and behaviours where employees feel valued, engaged, motivated and enabled to deliver exceptional outcomes”.
GFSL described Garner as “a strategic leader, bringing a wealth of experience in developing and leading high-performing teams delivering FM and construction services across the public and private sectors”. It said he would be facilitating the development of an organisation that is “fit to face the future, a provider of choice, an employer of choice that values it”.
