Chartered surveyor Bruton Knowles has retained its place on the Cadent Land Services Framework, enabling the UK’s largest gas distribution network to deliver vital infrastructure services across four regions.

This is the second time that Bruton Knowles’ National Utilities and Infrastructure Team has secured a spot on the framework. The firm is one of five selected to deliver all services across all regions over four to six years.

Under the contract, won in a competitive tender process, the firm will support Cadent to deliver consents, planning permissions and land rights across its north-west England, West Midlands, East of England, and North London areas. The firm will also provide specialist valuation services across these regions.

Cadent is responsible for the safe transportation of gas in some of the UK’s largest and most populous cities, such as London, Birmingham, and Manchester. It recently launched its first Social Impact Strategy, setting out how greener choices will guarantee decarbonisation across the network with a switch to hydrogen.

As new sustainable energy measures were announced in the Queen’s speech, this is timely and shows that the move towards a low-carbon economy is gaining pace.

Bruton Knowles is well placed to deliver expertise to clients in this sector because its team of RICS-accredited staff ensure responsible practice and follow the latest professional standards on sustainability.

Bill Simms, partner at Bruton Knowles and joint head of its National Utilities and Infrastructure Team, said: “Our team is highly skilled, with extensive knowledge and technical expertise. We look forward to helping Cadent to progress its plans towards a more sustainable future.

“Recent events in Europe and the cost-of-living crisis have highlighted the need for energy security and viable alternatives. It is a very important time for the sector as it continues to develop its homegrown power capabilities. The surveying profession is well placed to support this transition as a key enabler in the process.”

Bruton Knowles offers a streamlined approach for its clients through four national Teams: Valuation, Commercial, Utilities & Infrastructure, and Building Consultancy. These were introduced across the business over 2020/2021 to provide a single point of contact for the delivery of a client project. The teams have built on the firm’s sector strengths by responding to changing market needs.
