Mitie has won a £4.3 million contract with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to install electric vehicle charging infrastructure at more than 120 Jobcentres across Britain.
The deal – for the design, installation and maintenance of the EO EV charging points – builds on Mitie’s existing five-year relationship with the DWP, delivering FM services comprising engineering, maintenance, cleaning services and asset safety checks.
The provider has also worked with the department’s sustainability team in areas such as waste, biodiversity, decarbonisation and solar power. Sustainability will continue to be a key driver in this latest contract to help the DWP to reach its net zero targets by 2030.
The contract is Mitie’s second large-scale EV infrastructure roll-out for a government department, following a £4.5 million contract to install and maintain charge points for the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra). Mitie has already installed more than 2,000 EV charging points across its employees’ homes and private sector sites.
Pradyumna Pandit, managing director, Sustainability and Energy Services at Mitie, said: “Getting workplace car parks ready and welcoming with charging facilities is critical for the transition to an electric future. We are proud to partner with DWP as they lead the way in demonstrating their commitment to net zero with EV-ready sites."
