We are agents for change
Crises can be opportunities for growth. As Covid-19 moves from pandemic to endemic, ‘growing pains’ are inevitable as we seek answers to multiple common challenges. And now, an altogether different crisis has emerged in the plight of Ukraine. As we hold those affected in our thoughts, we will consider how as individuals and as a profession we can respond.
Climate change, with the IPPC issuing its bleakest warning yet, demands meaningful action, but how can organisations stay on track as soaring energy prices inhibit ambitions?
We benefit from remote working, but as social creatures we also need to gather for collective endeavours. How can organisations accommodate the way people work best? How do they attract, develop and retain talent in a skills shortage? Equity, diversity and inclusion – can we ensure genuine change?
With your potential influence as a practitioner, you can influence all of the above. But even our broad church doesn’t have all the answers. Our profession can marshal expertise to make a difference while drawing inspiration from leading minds beyond it. To assist the latter, our face-to-face IWFM Conference on Tuesday 8 June has an outstanding programme curated to inspire FMs as ‘Agents of change’, with exclusive offers for members and volunteers. Let’s get back together to enjoy the incredible line-up, network once again and create an ethical, fair and sustainable future together. Visit IWFM.org.uk for more details.
Lastly, IWFM is addressing an important local challenge: bringing members closer to the Institute and its decision-making through the Communities Review. Find out more on pages 16-18.
