Sodexo has been selected to provide an integrated asset and estates management service for the Department of Work & Pensions (DWP).

The deal covers an initial five years and has a total turnover of more than of £60 million.

Under the contract, awarded to Sodexo's Government Services division, the company will manage the service providers contracted by the DWP to carry out FM services, security services, and project and lease and landlord management.

Sodexo will advise on investment and service delivery decisions concerning the DWP's estate and assets, covering more than 900 properties across the UK including head office locations and job centres.

The company said its scope as integrator would include more than 20 services and would help create efficient management through having a single strategic overview of these services.

It will also offer guidance on aspects ranging from supplier performance, finance, business continuity, compliance and space planning, to asset and health and safety management and helpdesk services.

Mark Seastron, CEO, defence and government services, Sodexo UK & Ireland, said the company would help to maximise savings across the DWP's estate and make sure service providers deliver high quality.

"This contract represents the way forward for asset and estates management, which enables our customers with large, geographically dispersed property portfolios to focus on running their business while we concentrate on assisting them manage their estate," he said.
