Baroness Ruby McGregor-Smith CBE has joined the board of the new FM company Q3, as its non-executive chairwoman.
Q3 has been created for the UK market with the aim of changing the way corporate clients benefit from outsourced services.
Lady McGregor-Smith was chief executive of Mitie Group for over nine years and chaired reports into diversity and equal opportunities in the workplace on behalf of the UK government.
Martyn Freeman, Q3 chief executive, said that the company would change the FM industry by "actively disrupting the old ways of working".
"We are about creating the next generation of entrepreneurs in the outsourcing industry with a huge focus on operational expertise, delivering great service to clients and giving extraordinary careers to many," said Freeman.
"We especially want to utilise the talents of a broad cross section of society and our chairwoman brings invaluable experience with her."
Lady McGregor-Smith said: "This entrepreneurial focus, together with our partnership model with clients marks the start of a new era in the outsourcing industry."
