Facilities managers have an important role in making hot-desking work in offices.
A white paper entitled Hot-Desking: What Does it Mean for Facilities Managers? by corporate office FM specialist Anabas explores the evolution of agile working.
The agile environment has many nuances and facilities managers have "a key role to play", states the report.
Facilities managers are responsible for practicalities of "liberating workers from the traditional office space set-up and also the ongoing maintenance of a positive culture and the hard earned social capital which can often be at risk when the status quo is disrupted and you're presented with some of the hidden challenges related to hot-desking such as connecting, rightsizing, retrofitting and engaging".
It concludes that the skills of a facilities manager have become "irreplaceable" when organisations try to mobilise the workforce.
The paper also looks at how hot-desking can affect other areas of the business such as HR and IT, and offers practical advice on managing the challenges that implementing this flexible approach to working can bring.
The white paper can be obtained here.
