Car park service provider Indigo has won a five-year contract with Slough Borough Council to provide car parking services.
The award follows a partnership with the council that began in 2010 when the firm was first appointed to provide on and off-street parking services to the local community.
The contract will see investment from Indigo on sustainable technical solutions to improve performance and lower environmental impact. To meet the council's sustainability goals, Indigo will only purchase electric vehicles and bikes for the contract, replacing the current fleet of vans with an electric replacement to reduce CO2 emissions.
Indigo will also start an apprenticeship scheme, working with trailblazer groups to develop standards and assessments, providing a path for career progression. The company will also train staff on legislative policy or best practice changes related to parking enforcement.
Technical innovations include smartphones as an alternative to traditional handheld computers and body cameras for further operational safety. Additionally, the site's contract manager and team will be provided with new business intelligence tools.
Kam Hothi, team leader - parking at Slough Borough Council, said: "Slough is going through a huge regeneration programme and network management is a fundamental part of this."
