Security and logistics specialist Wilson James has been appointed to provide aviation security services at Belfast International Airport.
The company was chosen as the preferred supplier following a tender process, and the new contract will take effect on 1 November.
Graham Keddie, managing director at Belfast International Airport, said that passenger numbers would reach six million this year and that growth was expected to continue.
"We recognise that at some points over the busy summer season the service provided to our passengers was not what it should have been," he said.
"Therefore we, along with Wilson James, are committed to improving the quality of service and operational capability and we will be announcing further development plans shortly."
