Today marks the official and legal border between the British Institute of Facilities Management's old and new body as it begins transitioning to the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management during the week.
Later today it will begin a week of switching over as it transitions to new systems.
While in this state, the sentence: "The British Institute of Facilities Management [BIFM] is the trading name of the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management [IWFM]" will still be used so that anybody transacting with the body knows "exactly who they're dealing with".
For the next few days, the institute will still look like BIFM and its website will look the same as its transition takes place.
Staff have been working behind the scenes to make the transition to IWFM since members voted for the name change at the AGM in July.
See the Q&A for how you will be affected: www.bifm.org.uk/bifm/home
Please note that during Friday the current website will be offline while the switch is made to a new site.
It will not be gone for long, but it might make sense for members to plan around this downtime until a new site comes back online.
If any member needs to speak to the Institute urgently while the transition is taking place, you can call them on +44 (0) 1279 712 620.
In a week's time, there will be the launch of a new brand and a new website.
Over the weeks that follow more products and services will be online and a part of the IWFM brand.
