Mitie's Document Management business has been awarded a five-year document management and logistics services contract with The Law Society.
This is the first time the professional body, which represents and governs solicitors in England and Wales, has outsourced these services - they were previously delivered in-house.
Mitie has been appointed to "transform service provision by digitally enabling the provision of mailroom management, porterage, reprographics, scanning, records management, and purchasing services".
These will be delivered using "a fully integrated solution aligned to the Law Society's WorkSmart project, which is focused on modernisation by bringing people, processes and technology together".
James Gilding, managing director, Document Management, Mitie, said: "We look forward to developing a long-term partnership which enables The Law Society to focus on its members' needs whilst trusting in Mitie's expertise and innovative technology to deliver all its document management requirements."
Tom Booton, head of corporate real estate at The Law Society, said: "The society conducted a very detailed and competitive tender involving leading specialists from the document management sector. Mitie offered a great level of expertise, technology and really understood our needs, which set them apart. We look forward to welcoming them as a supply chain partner at The Law Society."
