Social housing repairs and maintenance provider Wates Living Space has been awarded a £3.5 million repairs and maintenance interim contract for 7,000 homes by Hammersmith and Fulham Borough Council.

Wates Living Space has been appointed to lot 2 of the council's new contract, to deliver repairs and maintenance services to 7,000 homes across the W11, W6 and W14 postcode areas of Hammersmith.

The work forms part of the council's maintenance programme, which includes general repairs for 17,000 council-owned homes.

The firm will carry out extensive general repairs and maintenance, which includes communal repairs, estate inspections, minor fire-risk assessments, bricklaying, carpentry, decorating, electrical repairs, fencing and flooring.

The contract begins in April and runs until summer 2020.

David Morgan, managing director of Wates Living Space, said: "The management of repairs and maintenance of this scale requires a methodical and meticulous approach and we have worked closely with the team at Hammersmith and Fulham Borough Council to understand how they'd like their new in-house service to be delivered for tenants and leaseholders.

"As is always the case, listening to the feedback of residents is fundamental to this process to enable us to provide them with the level of service they both want and deserve. A core part of this contract will be our network of local supply chain partners, with whom we are working to mobilise the best service possible from day one of the contract."
