Grounds maintenance provider Tivoli has been awarded an initial eight-year contract by Allerdale Borough Council in Cumbria to provide grounds maintenance and street cleaning services.
The contract has potential for an eight-year extension.
Tivoli has been maintaining the council's public facilities since 2003, and will now deliver services including litter-picking, clearing fly-tipping, chewing gum removal and the cleaning of all footpaths, highways, road and precincts.
The contractor will continue to work with local volunteer groups, town and parish councils and the council to support community clean-up schemes and other community-led events. It will ensure that the Allerdale area is attractive and welcoming to meet the council's priorities, and engage with local residents.
Charles Holmes, head of community services at the council, said: "Allerdale looks forward to this new phase of working in collaboration with Tivoli and the integrated approach that is being taken leading to clean streets and well-maintained open spaces across the borough, as we recognise just how important a clean and green environment contributes towards improving the lives of local people and visitors."
