Salary remains the most important factor for those working within facilities management, according to the IWFM 2019 Pay & Prospects research.
The topic is more frequently noted in 2018/19 than in 2017 with 67 per cent compared with 57 per cent.
The second most frequently cited factor in 2018/19 is location (41 per cent), which now overtakes challenging/interesting work (36 per cent) - the second most important factor in 2017 (then 41 per cent).
In 2018/19, more than four-fifths of respondents agreed that their present employer consistently encourages opportunities and diversity (89 per cent), always encourages equal opportunities (83 per cent), has a strong public image (81 per cent) and performs well against competitors (81 per cent).
Respondents are most likely to have disagreed that their employer offers excellent succession planning (58 per cent) and has a high turnover of staff (53 per cent).
The 2019 survey is the 14th survey by the Institute (formerly known as the British Institute of Facilities Management). In 2019 467 people from the sector took part in the survey, which opened on 30 January and closed on 4 March.
