Mitie has announced that Charles Antelme DSO will take up a newly created role as head of defence.
Antelme joins Mitie from Skarbek Associates, a management consultancy firm, where he served as the managing partner and board member responsible for the growth and development of the firm.
Before this, Antelme held senior business development and external affairs roles in the energy and security sectors.
Antelme spent 18 years in the Armed Forces, including with UK Special Forces, where he "worked to the highest strategic levels in multi-agency and international operations, both in combat and advisory roles".
This includes engineering services for the DIO, which manages land and buildings across the Ministry of Defence estate, including living accommodation for servicemen and women.
Simon Venn, chief government and strategy officer, said: "The creation of this new role demonstrates our commitment as a strategic partner to the government by broadening our services."
