Mitie has expanded its association with public body Historic Environment Scotland (HES) with a five-year cleaning deal worth £4.4 million.
The company has had a nine-year partnership with the body since 2010 and will continue to provide a range of specialist cleaning services to HES's estate of at least 50 historic buildings and ancient monuments, including Edinburgh Castle, Stirling Castle and Melrose Abbey.
Services will include both the external and internal cleaning of buildings, offices and windows.
The company will also be introducing Edinburgh Castle's first electric vehicle "to reduce environmental impact and carbon emissions while allowing Mitie's team easy navigation when moving equipment around the cobbled streets of Edinburgh". This will also help to support the city's commitment to reduce its carbon emissions by 40 per cent in the next year.
