APPOINTMENT: Global facilities service provider Atalian Servest has appointed Alistair McCourt as quality, health, safety and environment (QHSE) director UK & Ireland.
FIRE SAFETY: All timber fire doors that underwent fire-resistance testing by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) were found to have met required standards, exceeding the minimum 30-minute burn-time requirement, with one door resisting flames for as long as 59 minutes when opening away from the furnace.
CO-WORKING: According to Workthere's What Coworkers Want report, it is not the added extras in this type of office space that will win the war for talent and business, but the fundamentals, with technology (79 per cent), 'essentials' (79 per cent), location (64 per cent) and building design (62 per cent) ranking top in terms of importance for staff in co-working spaces across Europe.
BEST WORKPLACE: Adobe is the top-rated workplace, according to a survey by jobs blog Indeed. Facebook, Southwest Airlines, Live nation, Intuit, Costco Wholesale, Delta, eBay, Microsoft, Johnson & Johnson followed to make up the top 10. According to Indeed, online reviews have changed the world of work by giving employers and employees "a line of sight into what companies are doing right and what they're doing wrong".
