Our selection of workplace and facilities management announcements made this week.
PARTNERSHIP: Cloudfm and the University of Essex have formed a technology-driven partnership to bring state-of-the-art artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities to some of the world's most recognisable brands. Following a £195,000 award by the UK government's innovation agency, Innovate UK, Cloudfm will form a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with the university's leading AI academics.
APPOINTMENT: Crown Workspace has appointed Phil Oram as its new regional director for the UK and Ireland. Oram was formerly operations director at Premier Workplace Services, which Crown Workspace acquired in November 2018.
MAINTENANCE: As part of Transport Scotland's strategic trunk road management programme, Scotland TranServ will install a new icephobic coating on the M8 Charing Cross tunnel to help tackle the potential for icicles forming under extreme cold temperatures.
RESEARCH: Research commissioned by Diversey showed restaurant customers change their behaviour according to their perceptions of cleanliness. Over a third of people who enter a dirty restaurant will leave immediately and another 23 per cent will order but depart before completing their meal. Sticky tables, dirty cutlery and poorly cleaned crockery and glassware are some of the things that customers notice first.
APPOINTMENT: Pickerings Lifts has appointed Neil Marsden as service sales and marketing director. Marsden will be responsible for the service sales and marketing teams based across the country, building opportunities and securing service contracts within ITS lift, escalator, loading systems and mobility business streams.
APPOINTMENT: Kings Secure Technologies has appointed Jamie Storey as business development manager for the South. Storey began his career at Spectrum Access Control, which established a strong foundation for him to move forward within the security industry. His nationwide experience allows him to focus on nourishing new business opportunities and developing existing customer accounts to meet their critical needs.
