Train operating company c2c has extended its contract with Cordant Cleaning, awarding it a new deal worth in excess of £3 million a year.
c2c is owned by Trenitalia, which operates and manages stations and trains from London Fenchurch Street to Southend.
The contract will run until 2029 when c2c's train franchise next comes up for renewal.
Under the terms of the new agreement, Cordant will provide c2c with a single managed solution with full responsibility for the cleanliness and presentation of its 25 stations, 80 trains and two depots. It builds on a strong partnership that has seen the two companies working together since 2013, when Cordant Cleaning provided cleaning labour to support the in-house team.
A team of 100 will work on the operation, with members of the previous in-house team transferring to Cordant to be fully integrated under TUPE rules. Reporting will be done through the company's technology platform CAR, which will capture and report on all activities, assessing and monitoring the cleanliness of the trains and premises using real-time data.
