NEC, the contract standards organisation, is to make a new suite of facilities management contracts available in the New Year.
The organisation has developed the contracts with the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM). They are designed to embody the good practice in contract procurement found in the NEC Contracts, specifically for the FM industry.
The new contracts will include the NEC4 Facilities Management Contract (FMC), the NEC4 Facilities Management Short Contract (FMSC), the NEC4 Facilities Management Subcontract (FMS) and the NEC4 Facilities Management Short Subcontract (FMSS), as well as user guides and flow charts.
NEC said that all NEC4 contracts, including the new FM contracts, are designed around three principles: stimulating good relationships between contract parties; use in a wide variety of commercial situations; and use of clear, straightforward language.
The new FM contracts include pricing options, early warning processes to mitigate risk, and provision to deal with service failures.
An IWFM spokesperson said: "Pursuing the highest standards in the procurement and management of facilities services is fundamental to our profession's advancement. If we can bake in good practice and value-based principles to a specifically designed contract, and collaborate to increase its adoption, we will have secured a real and lasting win."
"We're excited to be collaborating with NEC on this important contract and look forward to its launch next year."
