FM company CBES has been awarded two contracts by the Co-op to provide FM and refrigeration services, starting on 1 April.
The privately owned firm, part of City Facilities Management UK, will provide a wide range of maintenance services including fabric, plumbing and mechanical and electrical by a Tech in Van model, which aims to enhance quality, workmanship and consistency at more than 1,300 Co-op retail and funeral sites in the UK.
CBES has provided refrigeration maintenance services to the Co-op for the past 11 years and this is the third consecutive contract to be awarded to the business. The new deal sees the addition of installation services across 550 sites.
As the contracts span the next five years, almost 200 colleagues will be employed directly, enabling strong relationships to build locally between stores and their dedicated maintenance technician, says CBES.
Andrew Lofty, property, construction and commercial director for the Co-op, said: "This long-term partnership approach has enabled us to develop a bespoke solution, resulting in a team of highly skilled dedicated engineers delivering fantastic services to sites in their local area.
"By combining our drive to improve customer experience and City's refrigeration and FM expertise we look forward to delivering a number of efficiencies for our members and customers across the Co-op's north region."
Fraser Allan, managing director of City Building Engineering Services, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for CBES to develop our close working relationship with the Co-op, delivering higher value and generating long-term efficiencies."
