Equipment rental and support services business Speedy Hire has won a five-year £20m supply contact with social housing maintenance provider Connaught.
Speedy will be Connaught's exclusive provider of tools and equipment hire across the UK and operate a single dedicated hire-desk. Speedy will also acquire, under an outsourcing arrangement, a range of equipment now operated by Connaught in-house to a maximum value of £1m.
The agreement “builds on a contractual relationship established in 2008, since when Speedy has become a key strategic partner" to Connaught, Speedy said.
Speedy, founded in 1977, has clients across the construction, infrastructure, industrial, manufacturing and FM sectors. It operates from over 350 fixed sites - together with a number of on-site facilities at client locations throughout the UK, Ireland and the Middle East.
Speedy also provides training and asset management as well as a testing, repair, inspection and maintenance service.
Last December Connaught said a major multi-year contract helped it to “a solid start” to the financial year with trading in line with management expectations.
A five-year £125m integrated services contract with Norwich City Council helped boost new order intake since year-end to £312m, but down slightly from £320m in 2008. The Norwich contract is the first to use the full range of the group's social, environmental and compliance capabilities, a trading statement said.
