Building services engineer NG Bailey has started work at Heathrow Airport's Terminal Two, which is undergoing major renovations.
In a contract worth more than £9 million, NG Bailey's IT services division is providing structured cabling and data network connections to the terminal, as part of a wider upgrade to the area.
It is installing 24,000 outlets, 120 miles of fibre-optic cabling and 700 cabinets as part of a common infrastructure design.
NG Bailey was involved in the design stage of the project, collating information from 15 specialist systems, including BAA user groups, retail users, control authorities and more than 25 separate airlines, to ensure that the proposed works meet the exact requirements of each provider.
Gary Pickering, sales director of NG Bailey's IT Services division, said the company was chosen as preferred contractor on the project because of previous work with BAA and other blue chip companies on high-value, mission-critical projects.
