Spie bolsters FM operation with Trios Group acquisition

Spie Trios

7 November 2016 | Marino Donati

Spie is extending its technical facilities management operation in the UK after buying Trios Group.

Spie, which offers electrical and mechanical engineering, HVAC services and energy communication systems, said that the acquisition of the Birmingham-based provider of facilities and property related services would grow its presence in the retail and leisure markets.

Trios Group operates in the private and public property sectors, including commercial, health, distribution, leisure and retail markets. It delivers its maintenance and compliance services through three divisions, property maintenance, legal and statutory compliance and access and security.

The company has around 690 employees at five regional offices in Birmingham, Enfield, Cirencester, Basingstoke and Warrington. Trios Group's revenue for the year to March 2016 was around £61 million, according to Spie.

Spie said that the acquisition of Trios Group would diversify Spie UK's end-user markets, both contractually and under framework agreements.

Spie UK chief executive James Thoden van Velzen said: "This acquisition is the next step forward for Spie's Technical Facility Management business. We are eager to develop our reach, and with the mobile capabilities Trios Group provides, we are setting ourselves on a path of significant growth in the sector."

Spie UK is a subsidiary of Spie group whose North Western Europe segment had revenues of €1.31 billion (£1.17 billion) last year.
