UK-based testing, instrumentation, research and consultancy organisation BSRIA has announced the appointment of Nick Blake as its new principal consultant of facilities management in its Sustainable Construction Group.
BSRIA said Blake's appointment shows its "commitment to offering a strategic FM consultancy through the whole life cycle of building property management and maintenance, adding commercial awareness to best practice and offering FM guidance from both client and contractor perspectives".
Blake formerly headed the engineering department of three private hospitals, managing all aspects of buildings maintenance including the site personnel. The role covered project management, contract negotiation and tendering.
He has experience in electrical installation and commercial and residential maintenance, and managed the onsite delivery of a £1.5 million endoscopy department, car park lighting LED upgrade and rewire, asbestos removal and electrical upgrade to save over 45,000 a year.
He has been a key participant in many governance groups on water, medical and gas H&S/SHE - providing regulatory guidance in line with HTMs and other industries' statutory guidance notes to ensure CQC compliance.
