The International Facility Management Association has published a white paper examining the key principles of strategic FM.
Strategic Facility Planning: A White Paper aims to provide over-stretched facilities managers with an accessible resource to help them develop a strategic FM plan.
Gary Broersma, a former chairman of the Ifma board of directors, said: "Well written, flexible plans account for growth as well as contraction, providing strategies for seizing opportunities and for reacting to economic downturns.
"It is my hope that this report encourages all facility management professionals to engage in this critical process in their own organizations."
The white paper includes a definition of strategic FM, information about a four-step planning methodology and recommendations on tools that could prove useful for FM professionals.
