Tesco Maintenance & Energy has taken the title of BIFM In-House FM Team of the Year for its format maintenance teams.

The retailer's Format team supports all of Tesco Retail's properties in the UK. Comprising nearly 900 technicians and 60 field managers, the team maintains more than 2,700 stores across the UK and Ireland.

The Format team is made up of 854 store technicians (responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of stores) and 59 group maintenance managers (GMMs) who manage the technicians and provide a strong link of communication between Tesco Maintenance and Retail. Six format maintenance managers (FMMs) focus on growing and developing these teams.

The team has been recognised for its work in developing a strong partnerships with customers and colleagues in complex retail environments, including hypermarkets, neighbourhood stores, large Dot Com distribution centres, office buildings, bank buildings, coffee shops and restaurants. Partnerships also include collaboration with Tesco's national operations centre (centralised call and dispatch centre), Trading Law, Energy, Development, Assets and Estates, local authorities and landlords.

Tesco's Format team technicians are available in thousands of stores on a daily basis to provide ad hoc fixes, and work geographically across the UK to maintain the entire estate including the company's corporate offices.
