The refit of its contact centre in Glasgow has seen mobile operator Three triumph in the BIFM Awards' Impact on Organisation and Workplace category.
Faced with a tired working environment, low morale and poor staff retention, Three opted to introduce a vibrant and contemporary new design that offered maximum flexibility and innovative meeting/breakout spaces, transforming the facility at 123 St Vincent Street into a positive, productive workplace that people now talk about with enthusiasm and pride.
The Fusion Café and adjourning areas set the dynamic feel for the building - large training rooms and mock-up retail spaces, bespoke gaming area, team bench for group and informal working, Inspire Zone where employees can connect with technology, and Nurture zone where staff can disconnect from technology, complete with deckchairs, trees and 'grass'.
Challenges included an aggressive recruitment drive where headcount increased from 570 to 941, with work in this multi-tenanted building being carried out while in full occupation. Staff engagement was key and through staff interviews and workshops rose from 46 per cent to 86 per cent during the project. Brand values of 'Discovery, Simplicity and Quality' are now very much alive.
Staff engagement was key to creating a workplace they would be proud of and talk about with enthusiasm and pride. 123 St Vincent Street is now one of the most used environments of all the buildings in the Three property portfolio. It has become the benchmark for the Three experience of 'Every Day Wonderful'.
