BIFM Awards 2015 - Societal Impact
A partnership between North East Lincolnshire Council and Cofely has won this year's BIFM Awards 2015 Societal Impact category.
Established in 2010, the partnership between North East Lincolnshire Council and service provider Cofely set out to deliver its support services while working with a number of partners in the local community.
The partnership set out and met targets including creating nearly 3,000 jobs in the local community, reducing road accidents, engaging with local businesses and external consultants such as the Environment Agency, Natural England and English Heritage.
Cofely upgraded over 19,000 street lights to LED lamps, improving energy efficiency and visibility for residents.
It also introduced a property rationalisation programme to streamline the number of properties from which the council operates.
The judges said: "There is strong evidence that the service provision has moved significantly away for standard FM and into the realm for delivering step-change social and economic outcomes for the local community."
The highly commended award in this category went to Robertson Facilities Management for its Robertson Communities service.
Robertson FM explains that its Communities team works in partnership with schools, local authorities and other key partners to create a solution based on share goals and values.
Robertson Communities allows school staff to focus on education, while it makes sure that the school building is a 'thriving hub' at the centre of the local community.
